A young man who tragically drowned at a popular beach died just one day short of his 25th birthday.
Rajkumar Bohora drowned at Zenith Beach in Shoal Bay, on NSW's Mid North coast, on Tuesday, in a devastating incident that has left his friends and family in shock.
The 24-year-old from Nepal was an aspiring student who had been living in Australia for several years in pursuit of a brighter future.
He had not seen his mother, his only parent and closest relative, for seven years.
She had raised him alone and he had been supporting her financially from Australia.
In the wake of his sudden passing, his family is raising funds to repatriate his body to Nepal so that his mother can see her beloved son one last time.
His cousin, Sakhina Adhikari KC, has launched a heartfelt fundraising appeal to help cover the costs involved in laying Rajkumar to rest in his homeland.
'Rajkumar was her only child, and she raised him alone with immense love and sacrifice,' Ms Adhikari wrote.

A second man who was pulled from the water has since been released from hospital
'No mother should have to go through this, but the least we can do is make sure he returns home to her.'
The funds will go directly toward repatriating his body, covering transport, legal paperwork, embassy processes, and funeral costs in Nepal.
Rajkumar is being remembered as a kind-hearted, respectful, and hardworking young man who touched the lives of many both in Australia and back home.
Friends and family said he who always put others first and pursued his dreams with quiet determination.
A second man known to Rajkumar was also pulled from the water during the incident.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but has since been released.
Rajkumar's family hopes to raise $30,000 for the cause.
