An Escape To The Country buyer broke down in tears as she opened up about a special friendship during Monday's instalment of the BBC show.

The episode saw Sonai Shah help guest Christina find the perfect property in the Lake District.

Christina brought her best pal Jean along the way to help keep her grounded while on the look out for her dream home - a traditional Lakeland cottage with acres of land.

She explained that she fell in love with the Lake District after visiting as a small child, but more recently it's become a safe place for her after losing her dad and best friend.

The retired private housekeeper booked some time away at Jean's rental holiday home and that is how their friendship blossomed into what it is today.

And Jean and Christina got very emotional as they spoke about their friendship during the episode, with Christina describing her pal as 'her rock'.

She continued: 'I am so lucky that our paths crossed...'

As she looked at Jean she said: 'Don't make me cry!'

An emotional Jean replied: 'I'm lucky as well!'

The two had a hug and then Jean cheekily said to Christina: 'You said you wouldn't!'

Sonai showed Christina a number of properties which she did like the look of, but really liked the £425,000 18th century cottage.

But the expert wanted to think outside the box for the mystery house and showed her a detatched house in the village of Maulds Meaburn, which is outside of the Lake District region.

After looking around, Sonai was keen to find out what she thought.

She asked Christina: 'It's such a vast proposition. Am I going a step too far? That's the point of the mystery house, right?'

Unfortunately it wasn't the property for her as she fell in love with the 18th century woodland cottage.

At the end of the episode, Sonai asked Christina: 'Where is your head at?'

'Well it's not here!,' Christina joked.

Sonai asked: 'Is it at the woodland cottage by any chance?'

'That's a pretty good guess,' Christina said.

'Yeah definitely, with that one acre. Sheep. Cabins.

'I was trying to think what there was trying to compromise on, there wasn't.

'Everything just seemed to fit. Like a jigsaw.

'A bit like that piece that has been missing all these years and you've shown it to me!'

A happy Jean pointed out that it's about 30 minutes from her which seemed like a positive trait for the property.

Sonai asked: 'So what happens now? Go back and see it?'

Christina confessed: 'I'd love to go back and see it for a second viewing so I'll contact the estate agent. Definitely.

'Hopefully! Crossing fingers.'

The guest also confessed that she was ready to make the move if the second viewing went to plan.

Escape to the Country airs on BBC.
