Aimee Lou Wood stayed up until the early hours of Tuesday morning sharing a flurry of cryptic posts after her appearance was mocked on Saturday Night Live

The White Lotus star, 31, has received an outpouring of support from fans after she hit out at the 'mean' sketch - in which Sarah Sherman parodied her by wearing huge prosthetic teeth.

On Monday, the actress appeared to be overwhelmed by the recent drama, breaking down in tears on the street at midday and being consoled by fellow actor Ralph Davis.

While Ralph managed to put a smile back on her face, it was clear Aimee still had the SNL scandal on her mind as she took to Instagram with a slew of Stories posted continuously until 1am.

At 8pm she shared a post from The White Lotus' official account in which she discussed how hard it had been to watch back the tragic closing scenes of the season three finale.

The post, which was captioned: 'Wellness may come with temporary aches', saw her admit the final episode made her 'sob a lot' and that creator Mike White made her 'sit in an achy place' during filming.

She went on to repost messages of support from friends and followers, including West End star and CBB contestant Marisha Wallace, who urged her to 'stay you and stay true'.

Another message from a friend noted that 'people are jealous and don't know where to put the energy, so it comes down to playground bullying, pointing at the one thing they themselves feel scared they couldn't pull off if they possessed it'

Aimee also commented on a post by Reese Witherspoon's media company Hello Sunshine that shared a series of her quotes.

They noted: 'Aimee's speaking up about both avenues' parallels to the bullying she faced in her past distracting from the performance she invested seven months of mental and physical work into — so let's celebrate her incredible talent AND leave space for Aimee to speak her truth beyond the roles she plays on screen.'

Among the quotes they reposted were: 'There's a full-circle thing about the thing that you're bullied for is now the thing that everyone's being like, "I love your teeth!"

'But then it does get to the point where you're like, "Can we stop f****ing talking about it?" Because then it actually ends up feeling a bit similar...'

Another quote read: 'Accepting who I actually am, I need therapy, stability, consistency. Maybe I can't do jobs that take me away from home for seven months. And maybe that's OK.'

Aimee was quick to comment: 'I appreciate this so much.'

The actress has been thrust into the spotlight of late with her role not just in The White Lotus but Netflix hit Toxic Town, about the Corby toxic waste case.

The Stockport, Manchester native has previously spoken about how her emotions 'simmer just below the surface' and revealed she used to 'mask' her symptoms of ADHD.

Aimee's campaign against SNL began on Sunday.

That same day, however, Aimee's on-screen love interest Walton Goggins shared a since-deleted post to his Instagram Stories praising the sketch.

The actor, 53, raved that the skit was a 'SMASHING' success, and he included a message for Jon Hamm, who appeared in the sketch as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

'Jon I knew I was miscast,' he wrote to the Mad Men star, who imbued the vaccine-skeptic politician with some of his White Lotus character Rick's personality.

Walton went so far as to also comment 'Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg' on the official SNL Instagram account, according to Page Six.

His shocking reaction to the sketch that offended his costar comes amid rumors swirling within fan circles claiming that he and Aimee are feuding.

Fans have cited the Justified star's once-effusive praise for his costar, which mysteriously dried up as the White Lotus was wrapping up its third season.

Since then, fans have even noticed that the two stars no longer follow each other on Instagram, and Walton appeared to have tagged several of his co-stars in behind-the-scenes photos he posted from the series — except for Aimee, whom he shared many of his scenes with.

Although Aimee doesn't appear to follow Walton's personal account, she still follows his eyeglasses page, Goggle Glasses.

On Reddit, users struggled to understand why Walton and Aimee didn't follow each other, with one person writing, 'I feel like no one is talking about the falling out of them?'.

In response to being mocked, Aimee took to her Instagram Story to slam SNL and address rumors about HBO

After the actress went viral for her takedown of the 'mean and unfunny' skit, she claimed that SNL had reached out to extend an olive branch.

Alongside a selfie distorted to make her eyes and mouth larger, she penned: 'I've had apologies from SNL'.

In the sketch, named The White Potus, it imagined the Trump family and various political figures on holiday at the famous retreat.

Goggins' character Rick was reimagined as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who was seen on a rambling rant debating they take 'all the fluoride out of the water'.

The camera then cut to Aimee Lou's character Chelsea - played by Sarah - with exaggerated buck teeth, who exclaimed: 'Fluoride? What's that?'

In response, Aimee Lou took aim at the 'cheap' joke, as she wrote: 'Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the p**s for sure - that's what the show is about - but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?'

She also shared messages of support from her followers and sister Emily, admitting she'd received 'thousands' of messages backing her up.

Aimee Lou continued: 'Last thing I'll say on the matter. I am not thin skinned. I actually love being taken the p**s out of when it's clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth.

'I don't mind caricature - I understand that's what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/ Chelsea was the only one punched down On... Okay end of.'

To conclude, she shared a comment from a fan that read: 'It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970's misogyny', she added: 'This sums up my view'.

Earlier in the day, Aimee Lou shared more thoughts on the matter, admitting: 'Whilst in honest mode - I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,' she told her followers.

After noting she was feeling 'righteous' but 'might delete' her post later, fans encouraged her not to remove it.

'Don't delete it, one comment read. 'It was mean and unfunny and saying it out loud removes their power.

'You're unreal in every way, I have a big gap in my teeth and an overbite and you've genuinely made me feel so much better about myself.

'I was going to spend thousands on fixing it all which I'm not doing now because I look at you and think how gorgeous you look so why not try and apply that logic to myself,' they concluded.

Another commenter wrote, 'I agree- everyone else in that parody was a political figure who was being mocked.

'The only character who wasn't political was Chelsea, and they were clearly just taking the piss out of your appearance/accent, which is extremely c***y and uncalled for.'

Earlier, she clarified that 'nobody at HBO called' her 'ugly.'

'That was my own paranoid thought' she explained, referring to a recent interview, which she says was misconstrued.

The star continued: 'Nobody at HBO would say that. My point in the article was about how our mind plays tricks on us. Please read carefully before getting angry for me.'

'So to conclude today's rant: @hbo - kind and supportive and never wronged me so leave them alone. @nbcsnl - mean.'

MailOnline has contacted NBC for comment.

She insisted HBO had been 'super supportive' but she was suffering from 'imposter syndrome'

In a recent interview with British GQ, Aimee Lou explained that White Lotus creator Mike White had to 'fight' to cast her, which made her feel insecure.

She continued: 'When someone (not a producer) told me Mike fought for me it was said in a nice way.

'I just spiraled about it because of my own imposter syndrome. That was my point. Just really wanted to clear that up because hbo have been nothing but super supportive.

In the GQ article, Aimee Lou dove into the insecurity, saying, 'My little head goes: 'HBO didn't want me. And I know why HBO didn't want me, it's because I'm ugly.''

'Mike had to say, 'Please let me have the ugly girl!' That was the thing that was in my head,' she continued.

Elsewhere in the interview, Aimee Lou spoke about the interest in her natural overbite and gapped buck teeth, which she worried had progressed to the point that it was stealing attention from her performance.

She worried that her teeth were now seen by some White Lotus fans as something 'goofy' that she hadn't yet had 'fixed.'

'It makes me really happy that it's symbolizing rebellion and freedom, but there's a limit,' she said.

'The whole conversation is just about my teeth, and it makes me a bit sad because I'm not getting to talk about my work.

'They think it's nice because they're not criticizing,' she said of those focused on her smile, before pausing and suggesting that the whole discussion might be tied in with sexism.

'And, I have to go there… I don't know if it was a man would we be talking about it this much? It's still going on about a woman's appearance,' she added.

Aimee Lou has been praised online for leaving her buck teeth natural, instead of caving into the artificial beauty standards of Hollywood.

During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, the actress marveled: 'I can't believe the impact my teeth are having. Americans can't get over them.

'Even the way White Lotus fans are talking about me and my teeth — that I don't have veneers or Botox — it feels a bit rebellious.'
